Sometimes, the best days are the ones where you stay close to home, but still feel the magic of discovery. At Cortijo Valverde, a perfect day unfolds naturally, between peace, sunshine, and a touch of adventure.

8:30 AM – Wake up with the hills

The first light slips through your window. Birds are already singing, and the olive trees gently rustle in the breeze. There’s no alarm clock here, just the rhythm of nature and the promise of a new day.

Step out onto your private terrace with a fresh cup of coffee or tea, everything you need is in your room. Breathe in the morning air and take in the peaceful views before breakfast calls.

9:00 AM – Long, lazy breakfast

Your day begins with a generous breakfast served by us. Fresh bread, local cheeses, granola, fruit, yogurt, eggs made to order, plus good coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Sit back, take in the view, and plan your perfect morning.

11:00 AM – Explore Álora or hike El Torcal

After a slow start, it’s the perfect time to explore. Drive or walk into the charming village of Álora , just a few minutes away. Visit the castle at the top of the hill, stroll through narrow streets, and soak up the local life. Hungry? Grab lunch or tapas at one of the many local spots in Álora. Prefer nature? Head to El Torcal de Antequera , about 40 minutes from the B&B. This stunning nature reserve is known for its otherworldly limestone rock formations and has several hiking trails: perfect for a morning in the fresh mountain air.

3:00 PM – Back for some downtime

Return to Cortijo Valverde for a well-earned siesta by the pool. Read, nap, swim, or do absolutely nothing in one of our quiet garden corners. The views, the stillness, the air, it’s all here for you.

6:00 PM – Golden hour peace

As the sun starts to drop, the hills around you turn golden. Wander through the olive trees, take a glass of wine from the (honesty) bar, or just watch the sky shift into evening

8:00 PM – Dine with us — or out in Álora

A few nights a week, we host dinner at the cortijo: from relaxed BBQs to 3-course surprise menus or paella under the stars. On other evenings, head into Álora to try one of our favourite local spots, again, check our Restaurants Near Cortijo Valverde Blog for inspiration.

10:30 PM – Stargazing in silence

Finish the day as peacefully as it started. The stars shine bright above the valley, and Álora glows softly in the distance. Nothing but stillness, fresh air, and maybe a final toast to a perfect day.

Tomorrow? You can do it all again or choose a new adventure.

That’s the beauty of Cortijo Valverde: Close to everywhere, far from it all.

One of the things we love most about Cortijo Valverde is its location. You're surrounded by peace and nature, yet within an hour you can be in buzzing cities, picturesque villages, or even dipping your toes in the Mediterranean. Looking for a day of exploring? Here are some of our favourite nearby adventures: all perfect for a spontaneous getaway.

1. Málaga: Culture, coast and city life (35 min)

A vibrant mix of old and new. Wander through the historic centre, visit the Picasso Museum or explore the colourful street art in Soho. Enjoy lunch on a rooftop terrace or at a beachside. End the day with a sunset stroll along the marina.

2. R onda & Setenil de las Bodegas (60 min)

Ronda is famous for its breathtaking gorge and the iconic bridge that spans it. But it’s also full of charm: winding streets, historic buildings and endless views over the surrounding hills.

While you’re in the area, don’t miss Setenil de las Bodegas (just a 30-minute drive from Ronda). This extraordinary village is built directly into the cliffs, with whitewashed houses tucked under dramatic rock overhangs. Stroll through its narrow streets, enjoy a coffee or tapas beneath the stone ceilings, and soak up the truly unique atmosphere.

It’s the perfect combination for a day trip: the grandeur of Ronda and the hidden charm of Setenil, both offering unforgettable views and Andalusian character in their own way.

3. El Chorro & the Caminito del Rey (30 min)

For the adventurous soul! The Caminito del Rey is a spectacular walkway carved into the cliffs, high above the river. A must-do experience (but book in advance!). Prefer something calmer? There are also plenty of scenic hiking trails around El Chorro.

4. Mijas Pueblo: Picture-perfect & full of colour (50 min)

This fairytale white village in the hills is full of charm. Think cobbled streets, balconies with flower pots, local craft shops and dreamy sea views. It’s small, but packed with beauty.

5. Beach day in Torremolinos or La Cala de Mijas (1 hour)

In the mood for the sea breeze? Head to the coast and spend the day by the water. Torremolinos is lively and spacious, La Cala is more relaxed and intimate. Both are perfect for a full beach day.

6. El Torcal & the Natural Beauty of Antequera ( 40 min)

About 40 minutes from us lies El Torcal de Antequera, a UNESCO-listed nature reserve known for its unique limestone rock formations: some over 150 million years old.

There are several well-marked walking trails (green, yellow, and red routes), ranging from 1.5 to 4.5 km, winding through surreal stone landscapes that feel almost otherworldly.

7. Horse Riding in El Chorro – A unique way to explore nature (30 min)
