Country House Hotel near Malaga, Rural Andalucia, Spain
Fine Dining for Residents only
We believe food is an integral part of any holiday. We have gained a reputation for our cuisine and recognised by many travel guides as the place for food lovers. As the respected travel writer Guy Hunter-Watts recalls “what really makes Valverde sing is the chance of eating supper as the sun dips over Sierra de Nieves”.
Meals are served in a "Dinner Party" format, which can at times become a riotously fun evenings, although we can always set a table for you on your own for that romantic meal experience. During the colder months meals are served indoors around our large Farmhouse table and from May onwards meals are served on our large terrace with the stunning views of the Guadalhorce Valley & Alora Castle.
We have gathered an incredible range of recipes from around the world, which introduces our guests to an amazing gastronomy experience. Our Spanish Nights bring together Tapas from all regions of Spain, together with main dishes from Andalucia, Valencia, and Basque region. Our midweek Set Menus provide a rare opportunity to get a taste of unique starters, main courses and deserts. At Cortijo Valverde we do not do anything in half-measures and that includes our Deserts!

Breakfast
Our room rates include breakfast and we aim to give you the perfect start to your day. Breakfast is a leisurely affair with a choice of cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit juice, fruit, and traditional English cooked dishes, accompanied by a variety of bread, toast and pastries.
Lunches
Lunches are available each day and include freshly prepared sandwiches, hot baguettes, salads, and various local dishes.
Dinner
Dinner is served for guests every evening except Sundays. In the warmer weather guests can savour a pre-dinner drink on the terrace and compare notes on the day's activities, or "inactivities" as the case may be. During autumn and winter months pre-dinner drinks are served in our Cortijo Guest Lounge/Bar with a cosy log fire blazing. Meanwhile in the kitchen the finishing touches are added to a delicious dinner. Secret ingredients of our homemade meals are the fresh produce brought in daily from the local shops, farms and specialists vendors.

During the busy periods we offer our popular “Spanish Nights” on Mondays and Fridays whilst during quieter periods we offer this on Friday nights only. The rest of the time and depending on the number of people dining, we offer a mix of set 3-course meals or seasonal menu. Evening meals are served in our now famous and popular "Dinner Party" format with all inclusive prices for pre-dinner drinks, starter, main course, desert, still water and coffee/tea. See our sample menus below.
Sunday is a day of rest for the Kitchen and Caroline, but it is a great opportunity to try the local restaurants and see the traditional Spanish Sunday family outing. Sundays are a special day in Spain where families and friends get together and often eat out in big groups with at least three generations present. It is an experience not to be missed.
Vegetarians & Special Diets
We provide a vegetarian option for those guests who are vegetarian or have special dietary requirements. Please indicate this in the "Dietary Requirements" section in our enquiry form.
Wine
A good selection of Spanish wines are available providing an opportunity to sample wines from different areas and grapes. We regularly feature a "Guest Wine" on our list, which provides you with a rare chance of sampling exceptional wines at affordable prices.
Olive Oil
Spain is the world largest producer of Olive Oil and in Andalucia we produce 80% of Spanish total production. With over 230 varieties of Olive trees and 5 different production methods, consumers have a bewildering range of choice and understandably there are many misconceptions and misunderstanding about Olive oil. We have commissioned our own Olive Oil to create a high quality, full-flavour and memorable oil. You can purchase our excellent Extra Virgin Olive oil directly from us, perfect for salad dressing or simply dipping (too good to cook with!). Click here to see about our Olive Oil.
